Commoners Vs. Ferndown Match report
Commoners WIN first ever game against Ferndown
If the way the day went for the Commoners before the game was an indication of how things would turn out, fate couldn't have got it more wrong. With the afternoon threatening to rain on the parade and Littledown losing the keys to the pavillion the omens looked bad for CCC's first game. But thinks looked up as captin Andy Dilworth won the toss and elected to bat on what was a wet and appaling wicket.
Some inspiring words from our skipper before the start of play were issued and motived the team in the best way. It took 5 balls from Ferndown's steady bowler (first name missing) Stanmer, but Trevor Barker pushed Commoners first runs and shortly after there was no stopping the flowing runs. Trevors opening partner Ian Edworthy was soon to find his swing and eventually mount to a tremendous 71 runs.
24 runs were on the board when Trevor was given contraversally given out later to find out he was stumped after quick thinking from the Ferndown wickie. Andy Allkins was next in bat who after a few let-offs mounted to a 73 run partnership with Andy picking up 33 runs for himself. Andy was eventually bowled and in came Martin Lowe to steady the ship up which he did well. Martin picked up 11 runs while letting the mercinous Edders continue to his 71 runs. After the fall of Martin wickets fell quickly. Damian Locke was dismissed for a Duck and Andy Dilworth, Martyn Webster, Simon Webster and Andy Purdie all picking up 7 runs between them. After the 45 overs were complete commoners finished there innings with a total of 144-7.

Commoners bating rating: 7/10 Captin Andy Dilworth wanted at least 180 runs on the board and CCC fell some way short of that. The last few batters slowed the run rate up Simon Webster the main culprut. But considering the wicket was not the easiest to play on 7/10 seems a fair score.

After the tea break Commoners went out to the field knowing the bowling options weren't the best and fielding had to be tight. Damian Locke and Andy Allkins opened the bowling. Damian and Andy both got straight down to work taking early wickets leaving Ferndown at 5-3 off 3 overs with Martin Lowe, Andy Purdie and Andy Dilworth all taking fantastic catches off the first three wickets. Ferndowns Middle order restored some pride into back their batting but nothing could stop the Commoners confidence at this time. Both Damian and Andy ended their spells with three wickets each before Martyn Webster and Ian Edworthy finished the game both taking two wickets each, with Andy Purdie taking another exellent catch. But it wasn't all fun and games for one Commoner. Steve Sawyer was wheeled off by Simon and Damians do it yourself stretcher. While Steve ran off his injury Graham Hood replaced him. Final bowlers figures were Damian 10-3, Andy A 13-3, M Webster 2-22 and Edders 5-2.

Commoners Bowling and Fielding rating: 10/10 understandably Ferdown didn't have an easy batting session as the Wicket was badly churned up. However excellent bowling assisted with good team fielding deserves the full 10/10 and hopefully Commoners keep things up.

Man of The Match: Ian Edworthy, Sound batting and bowling performance gives Edders the First Man of The Match award (even though there's no prize.)

Final thoughts: If Commoners can perform like this for the rest of the season, championship gold could be on it's way to Littledown. Let's hope the form continues with improvement next week as Commoners face a tricky fixture away to Witchampton.

Today's Team and point's total for performance: T. Barker 7, I. Edworthy 10, A. Allkins 9, M. Lowe 9, D. Locke 8, M. Webster 8, A. Dilworth 7, S. Webster 6, A. Purdie 8, S. Sawyer 7, A. Frost 6.

CCC V.s Witchampton
Commoners beat Witchampton by a massive 209 runs.
If it wasn't enough to win our first ever game and then get team of the week, the commoners are really taking the biscuit now. Once again though English weather put the game in doubt any more rain before play would have ended this encouter. The start was delayed and two overs were taken off the innings. Captin Dilworth won the toss for the second week in a row and smartly due to the wicket elected to bat first. Due to Mr. Geography (alex) he and george were running late due to the fact they couldn't find the place, so Edders had to bat without alex's wonderbat (according to Edders.)
The opening pair of Trevor and Edders started slow and steady with the runs ticking over. A very young Witchampton side bowled very well. But they were helpless to stop Trev and Edders once they found their stride. Edders had wonder bat in his hand (when alex finally found the place) and Trev supportted him superbly. Captin Dilworth did want 50 by 10 overs but the opening pair didn't reach that until the 12th over. Then 14th over came were Edders and trev picked up 19 runs of the over. Every effort that Witchampton put in nothing could stop Edders getting his 100. But not long after Edders was dismissed for 107, which cued Martin Lowe to pick up the baton. The run rate did dry up but CCC couldn't be stopped from racing to a phenominal target. Trevor lasted all the way to the 41st over after being stumped out even though he wasn't actually out, and made a total of 86. The wicket of Martin Lowe fell shortly after for 60 and captin Dilworth finished of the innings with a very respectable 14 runs from 4 balls giving the grand total of 283-3.

Commoners bating rating: 10/10 Witchampton's bowling wasn't to be ignored, they put the effort in, but on the day the bating was superb (apart from Martin and Steve V which cost Martin his innings.) But all 5 batsmen dug deep a got a very good total.

After a excellent tea break Commoners went out to the field to dispose of the Witches as quick as possible (before the rain came again.) The best start possible came. In George's first game he took a wicket in his first over to open the bowling innings for CCC. After his excellent bowling last week Martyn Webster was given another chance to shine. His first over was good the second was fantastic. I use the word fantastic again as one of Martyn's wickets in his second over was nothing short of county cricket standard catch from Frosty a superb diving catch had his team mates singing his praises. A ball later Martyn took another wicket this time caught and bowled. At this moment CCC was one better than last week with Witchampton at 5-4. But like their bowling Witchampton put in the effort to bring some pride back for themselves. The two Steve's were introduced to the bowling. Steve Sawyer who hadn't bowled for some years was very steady and ended up with figures of 21-1. Steve Vine took some time getting started after 2 overs he had conseeded 17 runs but that ended there. 4 overs after the last 2 Big V didn't conseed a single run and took two wickets in the process. Edders and George were brought on to finish the job which they did. Another fine catch from Frosty off Edders bowling redimed himself for turning up late and two maidens from George showed how much he has improved.

Bowling and Fielding rating: 9/10 Some slip ups in the field this week and not as convincing as the performance against Ferndown but still dismissed a battlng Witchampton for 74.

Final Thoughts: Some changes next week. No Captin Dilworth or chairman Martyn Webster as well as Toopy missing for next weeks clash with Bisterne. This could see Andy A and Damian back in and Debuts for Chris Barras and Ian George. Will a change in skipper change things? But once again the Commoners had a Laugh.

Individual ratings:
T. Barker: 9/10 Excellent bating performance. Which was followed by fantastic efforts in the field.
I. Edworthy: 10/10 107 runs with 2.3 overs bowled 2 wickets and no runs speaks for itself.
M. Lowe: 8/10 Confusion between himself and Big V the only complaint in his performance.
S. Vine: 8/10 Steady with the bat the short time he was in there and excellent bowling once he found his stride.
A. Dilworth: 9/10 good motivation from skipper superb short time batting and worked his socks of in the field.
M. Webster: 8/10 good with the ball and worked hard in the field.
S. Sawyer: 8/10 keeped at the bowing and got the wicket he diserved.
G. Toop: 8/10 super bowling also worked hard in the field.
A. Purdie: 6/10 had bugger all to do all day apart from take the drinks out.
A. Frost: 9/10 two fantastic catches as well as his third catch a well deserved 9.
S. Webster: 6/10 just like purdie had bugger all to do few mistakes in the field but made up for by diving left, right and centre for the ball (even though he could have simply picked the ball up.)

Man-of-the-Match: Alot closer than last week with strong perforamnces from Trev and Alex but Edders again stood out with his batting and Bowling.

Commoners Vs Suttoners match report.
Commoners taste defeat for the first time.
It had to happen some time, and it has. CCC have lost. We can make excuses like we were a weekend side without Edders, Steve V and Martin Lowe. Or we can say that we weren't used to playing in hot weather. But if we're honest, and we are we were s***. Batting wise anyway. Captin Dilworth won his third toss in a row (the double headed coin is really working) and elected to field. Luck was far from Kinson Manor for CCC early on Ian george hit the stumps but the bails did not rise. That lucky batsman went onto make 38, also Andy Allkins lost the ball out of his hands after making a spectatular dive for the ball. Suttoners were shifting the runs along and it was on the 59th run CCC claimed their first wicket. However this was only after 9.2 overs. Runs were coming thick and fast against the Commoners. However possible future player of CCC Andy Brix showed all in attendance that he meant business and took 2-4 from his first three overs. At the other end of the wicket Ian George bowled superbly well ending up with figures of 1 for 29 off 12 not bad for his first game for the Commoners. George followed up his two wickets by taking three catches in the field (competetion between Toopy and Alex) and after 30 overs Commoners dismissed the ten man Suttoners for 129.

Commoners fielding rating:- 7/10 after Suttoners piling on the runs at the start of the innings I think CCC should be more than happy too dismiss Suttoners out for 129 which gave the Commoners more tha a good chance against Suttoners bowling attack.

How we wished for Edders to play, I'm not going to go into great detail of our batting except saying that it was cack. But thats not to take anything away from Suttoners bowling offence with Jockey Wilson taking 5 for 10. Only Andy Allkins managed to get over 20 with 26 and that was the highlight of CCC's innings

Commoners batting rating:- 3/10 we had 60 overs to play with and we were moving at a very slow pace. But enough negatives onwards and upwards next week against St. Micheals.

Player Ratings:-

Trevor Barker:- 6/10 good effort from Trevor and most would agree with Captin Dilworth when he said "if we could all bat like you, we would be laughing."
Andy Allkins:- 6/10 put the effort in and tried to push the run rate but to no evail.
George Toop:- 6/10 stuck hard at his bowling and got the wickets he deserved.
Andy Brix:- 6/10 Most welcome to the bowling line up and tried hard with the bat.
Andy Dilworth:- 6/10 may have tried to hard, put everything into his fielding and just didn't work for him.
Ian George:- 7/10 Excellent spell with the ball and slowed down the fall of wickets while in bat.
Martyn Webster:- 6/10 Finished bowling innings nicely, but didn't succeed with a bat.
Steve Sawyer:- 5/10 Poor bloke had bugger all to do in the field, didn't see him in bat.
Andy Purdie:- 6/10 Superb behind the stumps, but a mistake sending him into bat at 3.
Alex Frost:- 6/10 Should take pride in his last stand with Simon, but it was cut short to the loss of Simon's wicket.
Simon Webster:- 6/10 Impressed Captin Dilworth with the short time he was in bat a good catch ended any chance of himself and Alex bringing glory home.

Man of the Match:- Ian George.

Commoners Vs St Micheals match report
Commoners back to winning ways with 92 run victory!
Well I will put my hands up, Captin Dilworth came in and said we were batting. Five minutes from the start of the game I realised I left the score book at home so I missed the first half an hour. By the time I got back we were 19 off 6 and was surprised to see us move at a slower pace than useual, especially with Edders in bat. Overnight rain had made this a hard wicket to play on. Contraversy surrounded Edders at one point in the 9th over, I would explain but at this moment I had to move my car out of a double yellow area.
But Edders was dismissed on 25 after being caught. Trevor was still their to hold ground and he and Martin put on a partnership of 20 before Martin was dismissed for 11. Excuse me for thinking this could of been another batting performance like last week. But Steve Vine came in to hit a slow and steady 31 before been given out for LBW. During which both Trevor and Captin Dilworth were dismissed one after the other by being bowled. Maybe Dilly won't be taking the mick out of any one elses batting for a while. Suprisingly high up the order at 6 was Frosty. The poor lad was quite nervous but notched 4 runs before being caught out and the same goes for Martyn Webster but in the familiar batting position of 7. CCC's innings drew to a close and looked at a total of 132 but thanks to a good last over partnership from Simon and Purdie took the total to 144.

Commoners batting rating:- 7/10 it was a hard wicket to bat on and at times we couldn't tell what the ball was doing. Any team would have been happy to total up 150.

22 overs is what it took for CCC to get the win tight fielding and bowling dismissed St. Micheals for 52. George the highlight with 5-35 off 9 overs. Edders very tight with 1-11 off 9 and Martyn and Steve Sawyer ended up with 3-2 and 2-1 respectivly.

Commoners Fielding and Bowling rating:- 10/10 perfect today not one mis-field or dropped catch and dismissing a side like St Micheals for 52 deserves a pat on the back.

Player ratings:-
Trevor Barker:- 7/10 steady as always with a bat and good effort in the field.
Ian Edworthy:- 8/10 clearly found it difficult to bat on the bad wicket but used it to his advantage with his bowling.
Martin Lowe:- 7/10 Few byes conseeded, not his fault but took two important catches.
Steve Vine:- 8/10 inspirational with the bat and put in the effort in the field.
Andy Dilworth:- 6/10 Clearly disappointted with his wicket but made up for it with a great catch.
Alex Frost:- 8/10 played two good shots, and it wasn't a good wicket to play on with a vastly improving player.
Martyn Webster:- 8/10 bounced back from last weeks disappointment with the bat and bowled tightly to finish the game.
Steve Sawyer:- 7/10 a run was unfortunate not to go against Steve's name but good bowling and fielding will be a confidance booster.
Simon Webster:- 7/10 looked confortable with the bat and worked hard in the field.
George Toop:- 8/10 unlucky to be out after trying to push the run rate up, but superb with the ball in his hand.
Andy Purdie:- 8/10 some cracking shots with the bat in the last over and worked hard in the field.

Man of the Match: George Toop
